I thought of this when reading a post on a 1.8 Liter Sentra with a 2 7/8 quart slump! I didn't realize any car had such a small oil sump ! Wonder what the old Fiat 850 cc engine was ?

I know some BMWs have large sumps. My Corvette is 6.5 quarts, some Dodge Hemi's are around 8 quarts I believe.

Anyway, it would be interesting to know, post here.

Three different Mercedes models I've owned ('82 300 D turbo, '85 500 SEL and '92 400 E) have had 8 quart sumps.
Porsche has had very large reservoirs in some of their flat 6 dry sump engines, up to 13 quarts if I recall correctly.

I've read on here that several Nissans have a tiny sump like that. Including some you wouldn't think- like either Xterra or Pathfinder SUVs.

The largest factory oil capacity I've ever seen personally wasn't exactly a "sump," but a buddy's circa 1970 Porsche 911 (flat six, air-cooled) held something like 12 quarts in the oil tank, cooler and engine. Oil is coolant in that engine, so they provided it with plenty.

The King of street car oil capacity is Porsche.
Some models are 12 qts. There may be ones with more.
This total is not actually in the 'sump', or crankcase.
