My trusty lawnboy wouldn't start last week and after checking it out I determined that the ignition module had quit. I ordered a new one off E-bay and it showed up today. So I installed it and put the mower back together and gave it a pull and b-b-b-bbrmmmm, it started on the first pull!
Not bad I thought for 25+ year old mower and a hacker weekend mechanic.... It would be nice if all my mechanical repairs went this well!

Probably, LOL. Grass/debris would pack up around the coil on those and mess it up.

No, its a 2 stroke, I think its a late F-series motor but I haven't had any luck so far pinning down exactly what it is. Staggered wheels, Aluminum deck, handle mounted choke with variable throttle, and a flywheel brake, bought sometime the the late 80's? Also it has a round green shroud with a black pull start section in the middle.
No grass around the coil but I did have it rattling around for a short ride in my atv trailer so that might have something to do with the coil failing?

Lawnboys have a following. A good running Lawnboy is a treat use. They are light and powerful, and cut well. I picked up a 30 yr old pusher and use it as a trimmer.
