small engine oil temps

tried the ST 20-50 -consumption was down slightly, but pulling the cord to start it was like trying to pull a freight train-no thanks.

Did a comparison yesterday-grass was only about 6 inches high, but I brought out the Toro self propelled walk behind--after 2 hours oil temp was only 200 degrees-on a 75 degree day

I have a 6HP B&S 12J cast iron sleeved engine on my Snapper push mower. It is about 10 year old now and runs great. Except I have to rebuild the carburetor when I get a chance. I've been thinking about running synthetic oil in it. What do you guys think?

Unless you have some leftover from a oil change I wouldn't bother with the added expense. Get a bottle of 15w40 and it'll last a couple years.
