Anyone have any issues overfilling 1/2 a quart in their old school Ford 5.0’s?
Is this intentional?Anyone have any issues overfilling 1/2 a quart in their old school Ford 5.0’s?
I would never remove an oil filter and reinstall it after the seal has been compressed.. Better off the remove drain plug, get oil all over your hand and quickly screw it back in. It's guess work and you have to be quick. If it were mine I would take oil filter off and drain it, put back on should be at close to correct level
I did the same on my 2006, it brought the level right up to the top of the dipstick (the top marker). On my 2012 however, 5 quarts will put it over the top so I don't add as much. My personal preference is to always have AT MINIMUM the oil capacity as listed in the owners manual, with a max fill of whatever the top of the dipstick reading is but never to exceed the top marker on the dipstick. Some engines are actually sensitive to overfill and can create excess crankcase pressure to the point of causing a leak. Likely not an issue on a Ford 5.0 but something to consider. My accord takes 4.5qrts, I always dump in the whole 5qrt jug. Never had an issue ( and hope I never do)
Yes, you can have issues if the engine is turbocharged. It can affect oil drain back. Had that issue when I ran turbo.
Can you please post more pictures of those front brakes???
