Sister] I am going on vacation and my dog will be in the kennel.If the plane crashes will you give the dog a home?
me] that spaniel type dog?
sister] yes
Me] does it catch gophers ,squirrels or moles?
sister] No
Me] how about chasing deer out of the yard?
Sister] no.
Me] Does the dog heel off leash and how is the dog on leash if I take it for a walk?
Sister] no and it is not good on a leash either I didn't spend time training the dog as I should have.
Me] does the dog bite people when necessary? I like dogs that will bite people when necessary?
Sister] nooooooo!
Sister] you are going to shoot the dog aren't you?
Me ] Well is seems like a kinda useless dog.
Sister] you really are going to shoot the dog I can tell!
Sister] let me call you back.
Sister] I called Jean and she will take the dog so you won't have to shoot the dog O.K.
Me]That is fine.

Shannow : BAXTER NO!!!
sister : why did you yell at my dog ?
Shannow : because dogs don't understand please, thankyou, and certainly not when in a placating voice.
sister : Baxter does.

Heck, all my mutts need is a nasty look and they cut their $%#@ out. If I have to yell, they stop and lay down right where they are. It doesn't take much to train them properly. One of them was a stray for a while too; she's adjusted very well to home life.

Just because your sister's isn't Lassie from a Norman Rockwell painting, doesn't mean you should shortchange (or shoot) it.

Mine's not particularly useful or manly, is that a problem?

One of the axioms I learned early......Never trust people who do not like animals.
Almost any dog can be trained, at any age. They can be frustrating, but not nearly as frustrating as kids. And most of them can be trained, too......Up until age 14 or so.

It is not about the dog it is about the Brother sister relationship. I have been a dog owner all my life . Though not a lover of stupid animals though. I like my dogs to add to my life not be just a vet bill and a mouth to feed ,sorry to all that I expect something from the animals that I pay for their existence.

Seriously, I do not like chocolate. 99.9% of everyone else does.

A good dog is friendly with kids. Plus it must be smart and mandatory loyal/obedient.

I grew up with a mutt that was half Cocker and half Gordon setter. Smartest dog ever. Lived 18 years too. I still miss him.
