After all these years of people complaining about the build quality of Fram filters, you would think, just from a marketing standpoint, that Fram would figure out a way to put metal end caps on their entire filter line. Most people feel a Fram is great at filtration but they always point out that they hate the look and "feel" of the filter with those fiber end caps. If all the other filter manufacturers can put out economical filters with metal end caps, why can't Fram? Either that or they just feel that the folks on this site that may actually cut open a filter are such a small percentage of Fram consumers, the opinions posted here are not really something to be concerned about.

Fram can do it, and does do it on some of their "built for" filters. I don't think it's really cost driven that they use non-metal end caps, but more about media to end cap bonding and maybe ease of production.

^^^ Nothing really wrong about that filter. A few wavy pleats is no big deal. Now if they were torn open, then yeah that's a big deal.
