Hey Guys,

I'm sealing my Cold Air Intake - with some Gasket Maker ...
I'm wondering about small amounts of dried silicon getting in to my engine ... I was trying to remove as much as i could but u know how silicone leaves "skin" and tiny amount all over ...

BTW .. I bought some Blue Gasket Maker ...
One was super Dark Blue Color ... No Smell
And Other One was Clear-bluish .. and it smelled like silicone EXACT same product ... K

If you end up with bits of silicon falling off, I'd say you used too much.

Also, to me it is unclear that si is always a wear contributor - si from a gasket is not the same as si from silica sand.

The question is if si creates a surface degradation that induces wear even without si particulates present.

Be very careful with using silicone sealant around the engine, especially on the intake. If the sealant you chose isn't oxygen sensor safe, it will leach out silicone as it cures and contaminates the oxygen sensors.

I'm using Permatex Blue Gasket Maker .. its safer for Sensors :P Or better be cuzz i have it all over intake

It's good that you are using O2 safe stuff.

Normally, you should not need a sealer. The couplers normally do the job well, and better ones are available if yours are not so hot.

If you use RTV, let it cure before driving. And you can't slob it on all over. It may be tough to discern how much squeezed out inside a tube or joint.
I would prefer you seal it normally, and only use RTV for special problems.

Here are some pictures how this is looking ... :)
I can see Pipe/Box...There is tiny trace of silicone there I guess its OK ?

Inside Box ... there is a lots around velocity stack but i guess there is no vacuum so its ok .. to be messy ... ?

BTW I will vacuum all those tiny particles from cleaning

BTW... I Sticked Vacuum true the sensor hose and and sealed top and bottom of the intake so I guess all the particles if there were any went to my vacuum bag .. ?

I don't think that engine creates that more vacuum ?

I hope that this silcion will not start melting on hot days lol from intake getting hot ?

BTW... I'm using blue Gasket Maker from Permatex .. It does not say that is for use on intakes manifolds ... like Black but then I guess Its not a intake manifold ?

That RTV will take a lot of heat - no worries in that dept..
You don't want chunks or ribbons to come off and get in the intake.
The job looks pretty neat, but was probably not necessary.

For your own peace of mind, clean it up as best you can, and when you re satisfied, be happy.
You can check things visually in a month or two, but they should be OK.
