Is it just my browser, but is this picture smaller when you click it ? Another example of this forum's software's backward-ness !

They have a getup now where there's a 8-foot-square aluminum slab on top of a truck bed so one can fit two snowmobiles side-by-side. That looks janky as well. But if I look closely at this it looks like the side-by-side is resting on something cab roof height, like a ladder rack!

We all modify our vehicles to our liking. Just because you think it's unsafe doesn't make it so. Good way to deflect your dangerous picture taking while driving by saying the other guy is doing something bad too....

You are mixing up a truck camper with a travel trailer.

The height is just part of the issue. The camper pictured above sits on the bed of the pickup and that weight is directly transferred to the frame and wheels.

In the OP's example the load is not directly sitting on the bed. Will it be safe? Ask that question if that driver needs to do a emergency maneuver or slam on the brakes.

The driver needs to take everything into account when hauling heavy loads like that, not just the weight.

Certainly looks like risk and reward - a pull behind RV is way more bang for the buck - and you can leave it behind and head other places with just the truck and how it drives from the factory. We have all seen RV's in the ditch and the truck and passengers were fine - seems this thing is taking you and $uper Duty with it.

Seems harder on the truck and fuel too ...

Guess this package can park easier. Not sure what else - not similar to a coach either

Do they still make those things? I haven't seen one since the 70's.

Saw an Outfitter with his ATV high up on an aluminum bed deck a couple months back - but he was also pulling a fancy closed in trailer as part of the show …
His F350 4WD was not sitting level though
