Selfemployed here, write my own paycheck, cant afford to be sick much. Same goes for the Wife, She runs her own company as well.

Have to take care of bills, Healthcare and paychecks. Cant remember last time we were on a vacation...............

We get 4 weeks annual leave per year, accrued up to 8 weeks, at which point you get hammered to clear it back to 8, regardless of timing (there's no "good" time to ever take it)...Having been there more than 20 years, I'm also accruing "Long Service Leave" at 2.6 weeks per year...Think I've got about 40 weeks total owing to me.

Sick leave is 11 full days and 11 half days, accrued...think I've got a year accrued there too (that doesn't get paid out, and has the aforementioned limits/stipulations, but is a decent insurance policy for sure)

I work in aviation and take the occasional personal day off. However, I work by myself and only do this when the boss' airplane is gone.

BUT, I'm never able to take vacation, or extended time off. The best I seem to be able to do is 4 or 5 days in a row, inclusive of the weekend.

I feel guilty taking any more, and my boss calls me in anyway.

Now that I think about it, it's really not fair.
