Always thought the shuttle cockpit looked great. The fly by wire "sticks" are very, very similar to what we have. They even look the same underneath. The sheet metal box is nearly identical.

John Young's first flight was Gemini 3, with Gus Grissom. Grissom had complained about the space food pre-flight, so Young smuggled a corned-beef sandwich onto the flight and offered it to Gus.
Young spoke here at the Convention Centre in January 1982. Some college buddies and I went to hear him. He commented on the temperature differential between Houston and Winnipeg (approximately 100°F).
