It worked incredibly well but not with the Japanese according to Australian Tourism figures I saw recently . I have no idea what that says about our relevant cultures? Still love Japanese food though.

Now you guys may start to understand why some in the USA think Aussie = phony. To me your ads have backfired, but plenty of people still go so it's OK.

Anyway - Shannow your recipe is essentially what I call beer oil shrimp. Good stuff.

Crawfish/Crawdad's are our yabbies. (Fresh/brackish water, little buggers with claws)

Wonder what the U.S. version of Maron is (large fresh water crays)

Driving back from Cooma (to Tugeranong) one night around 10PM, there was a brilliantly coloured yabbie crossing the road.

Yes, but do you gather up hundreds, place in salt water till they regurgitate, boil in EXTREMELY spicy water and then "suck the heads and eat the tails"?

Bob

I like yabbies, and would love to cook the Cajun style.

I thought it was pinch the head and suck the tails?

When I was in Lafayette the locals called them mudbugs, apt description I thought. GROSS!! I love seafood but they were gross.

I love shrimp though, especially étouffée. Had some awfully good seafood in Louisiana that trip.
