I installed a flush port on my 04 dodge 5.9 cummins today and flushed the system after I drained the coolant away (the Orange stuff) until the water ran clear. Autozone didn't have g-05 coolant so I bought the universal store brand. My system calls for about 6 gallons of coolant but I got just under 5 out of the draincock and reservoir. I filled the radiator with two gallons of universal. I went to grab my keys to get another gallon plus some distilled water to go to the garage to find my "helper" adding a gallon of the conventional lime green stuff I use in my older jeep. Grrrrrr. So my question is, do I need to drain, flush and start over or am I good with what I have. If I need to change it out in two years I'm ok with that. I just don't want to contaminate my system with the older conventional stuff because I hear it will cause problems in a g-05 based system especially if any g-05 remains to mix with the green. Please advise. Truck is sitting in the driveway until I get a definitive answer.
