short oil change change filter every 2 changes?

Hi all, I live in the South and I make VERY short trips (<2 miles) with my 2017 Chevrolet Traverse 3.6 DI. I remote start the car to cool it down and warm it up when necessary also. My OLM is already at ~30% at ~ 1800 miles. The oil is dark and is starting to have some gas smell. I am changing just the oil (The filter is in a BAD spot) and not resetting the OLM. I figure I'll change both at 0. I used Quaker state Full syn 5w30 Dexos. I will refill with the same. I used the OEM Delco PF63. I feel it should be good for the rest of the OLM life. Probably 3,500 or so in total. any opinions? The oil filter is in the stupidest spot ever and is at an angle that is really tough to find to thread it back on.

Your plan is fine, the filter can take two short OCIs.

That's exactly what I do. I drive ~2500 miles annually. I change the filter every other year so the filter only sees 5000 miles.

You will be just fine doing the filter every other oil change with those kind of miles. Been doing this for years with vehicles that don't get driven much.

Personally would put an extended mileage filter on it. Even though your not racking up the miles it's some of the hardest miles.

PF63’s run out a full GM OLM somewhere daily …
6000-7500 miles is safe on those filters …
(One on my L84 right now) …
