Shocks or not?

Replace the strut/shock mounts if you are replacing the shocks, unless the mounts are relatively new. It will save you one headache if it turns out the shock mounts are bad and causing noise/clucks.

Here is an interesting shock dyno presentation comparing kyb agx, bilstein HD, tokico illumina and koni sport shocks.

Me personally I'd go with either bilstein HD or konis, depending if I wanted adjustable [rebound].

Both sets of KYB GR-2's I've purchased came straight from japan.

I've never seen a set that wasn't from there, but I'm not saying I know everything.

If I don't purchase OEM replacements, I'll always get KYB GR-2's. It's been mentioned previously, but they really are the best bang for the buck.

I believe there is a better explanation. Nissan specs a different dampening rate than the aftermarket KYB. KYB, like other manuf., do their own testing to determine if enhancements are necessary. It's the same way with OEM honda and KYB aftermarket.
