Ship cat from coast to coast

I should have mentioned that we want to stop at a couple of national parks. I'm thinking about how leaving the kitty in the car , and that it might cook the cat?

That would not be good. Her cat does not have a problem traveling in her car. It's pretty mellow about that. But it's not a mellow cat in general.

If you must stop for extended periods of time in the parks and there is no option to walk the cat or take it out of the car, then I would just let the cat live at your house for a while.

Or, you could visit the parks some other time, or just drive through them and do things that don't involve leaving the car for long periods of time.

Owning an animal is going to be inconvenient at times, but you have to take their needs into consideration and make compromises for them. It's not just a thing to throw in a box and hope it comes out alright on the other side.

I've had dogs my entire life. Because of that, I've missed out on a few things while traveling with them. Would I have given up those dogs to have done or seen a few sights? No way. They've given me much more than looking at a monument or a mountain has ever done. But in the future, after our last old fellas pass....we will spend some time looking at and seeing everything we may have missed all those years. But you know what? I'm sure I'll miss my dogs.

Here's another hat to throw into the ring of "don't ship kitty". The cat will be traumatized by the extremes in air temperature (cargo holds aren't always climate controlled well or at all), extremes in noise, and extremes in handling. Even if it physically makes it to the other side, it may never be the same again.

My wife's cat got lost for the day on a plane ride. Her cat had lots of miles on her as wife was a contract travelling PT in her early career.

After that my wife ended up driving in car with cat. Of course the cat got car sick,

Seriously, though, don't ship the cat - like others have said, it may crimp some things you want to do, but it's a memeber of your family, and deserves care and respect.
