Who has had a Shingles outbreak? Did you feel muscle pain, headache, and generally like it’s a bad case of the flu?
How long did that last?
very painful and can be really itchy best is not scratch the infected area if you accidentally touch your eyes afterwards you could get the shingles virus in your eyes and even lead to blindness. I had it after an episode of Lyme disease followed by a nasty stomach virus it wasn't pleasant. the virus could leave you feeling lousy like the flu etc. I would say not everyone would have the same symptoms but overall some common then not. and its a lie that shingles only affects the older crowd I had it at age 30.

I have had the shots however I know a few friends who have had shingles and it's not fun. Very painful and sometimes it comes back again. Rumors report stress can make it flare up.

I had a serious case of Shingles. Left side of my face. Could have cost me my sight, about that in a bit.

Three weeks in a dark quiet room, 5 medications. Exhausting. Very painful, even with Gabapentin for the nerve pain.

Get Vaccinated, Shingrix, series of 2 injections. Should protect for at least 10 years.

I am blind since birth in my right eye. (Amblyopia) On a good day, my right eye is 20-800. I have some peripheral vision on the right. From about the age of 10, I knew that I was just one catastrophe away from blindness. Until I had Shingles, I had no knowledge of the risk of Keratitis.

As others have noted those are not typical shingles symptoms. Is it confined to one side of your body?

Also if you’re quick about it (and it is shingles) there is an anti-viral treatment.

I had a case of Shingles on the right side of my face and top of head. .I can tell you from experience it is painful and a constant pain in my case 24/7. When the first vaccine came out and the manufacture referred to it as a light vaccine, I got it but, didn't' remember to follow up with a full dose later and I paid a painful couple of weeks.

I had shingles on one side of my abdomen, front and back. I can't recall if I had any other symptoms other than excruciating pain. The bout lasted a few weeks. IIRC, the doctor put me on Prednisone.

I stayed home from work for those two weeks because wearing clothes was awfully painful. No one wants to be around some naked and blistered, random fat dude.

Connor had the shingles strip and extreme sensitivity at 3YO....Dr. said he was too young...I asked what the diagnosis actually was then...and he replied that it could only be shingles..

Shingles follow a nerve dermatome ….

Which can be extremely painful obviously…

Most people get them on one side and typically it goes from their back and goes around their body to their abdomen.

Another likely outbreak location is farther down on or near a hip on one side.

Facial shingles can happen too as stated by other members on here … I just saw a video of Joe Robinet who does outdoors adventure videos the other day and he had shingles on his right side of his face… From the middle of his head going towards his right eye.. His right eye swelled up quite a lot. .

Lidocaine maybe helpful in treating the pain to some degree. Or possibly cortisone cream has well. Warm Baths with baking soda maybe helpful as well.

Right, I had it about three years ago. The regimen was an anti-viral drug (don't remember the name:unsure:) with Gabapentin to relive nerve pain.

It started right above my waist from the front to the back. Didn't go to the doc until itchiness started driving me nuts. My wife, the nurse, said I didn't have far to drive. 😂

I’ve had the Shingles. Very painful and oozing rash like appearance. I had a band about hand width running from the center of my chest to the center of my back. I still itch eleven years later. I did not have flu like symptoms.

Yeah, I got the same drug regimen. It didn’t help one bit. Calamine lotion helped the most.
