I bought 5 qts Shell Formula 5W30 conventional. I don't hear much about this oil. Would it be worth a 5000 mile run?

Yes. It's a fine conventional oil. In fact, I have that very oil in that very grade in our '08 CR-V as I type this. It's the last of a case of Formula Shell that I bought at BJs a year or two ago.

If your vehicle specs state the use of API SN 5W30 is allowable , it will serve you well for 5k .
Currently running 10W30 Formula Shell in my parents 89' Suburban.
Plan to use it for 5k also.

The additive packages change on occasion, and for some viscosities, Pennzoil Conventional and Quaker State Conventional and Formula Shell are indistinguishable based on VOA alone. As for the "Formula Shell" and "Shell Formula" busienss, they're the same thing. Shell even has that transposition in their data sheet database. That's probably the origin of it, since PQIA and others would check and want to get the name "right," despite that the manufacturer didn't even get it right.

Yep. Home depot has it for under $14 a five qt container. . that's a good deal. I am likely to get some for the Camry
