What do you guys think about Shell Formula One oil. AAP has it on sale for $1.68. I ran searches but found nothing. Is it good for 4000-5000 oci? Been a reader here for a long time but rarely post. Thoughts???

I've never heard of Shell "Formula One" oil. If you're talking about "Formula Shell" it's supposed to be a pretty good sleeper oil.

Never heard of Shell Forumula One, but Formula Shell, on the other hand, is excellent. It's currently available from c/s/k for 0.79/qt after rebate. I use it and Chevron supreme in all my vehicles, and will continue to do so as long as c/s/k keeps offering the great deals

Forgive me for asking, but what is c/s/k.
The only place that I can find Formula Shell is Target for $1.75 per quart.
Also the only place that I can find Chevron is Tractor Supply.

TropArtic is $1.68 at Wal-Mart...syn blend, good UOA's. Probably as good or better then Formula Shell for the same or less money.

You guys are lucky that you can get Shell Formula for.75 a quart.Cheapest I can find around Vancouver B.C. 2.20 cdn. US quart.Thinking of using it or Castrol GTX.

Shell Formula is good oil. I usually pick up a case when Checker has their deals going on. I would not buy it at regular $1.85 price though. I would get the Tropartic synthetic blend for $1.68 at WM.

A high quality oil at a good price that appears to be nothing special to the average consumer because it isn't marked up from high advertisement costs.

There are some UOA's on this oil. For the few there are, it has never done bad. I don't do the Checker rebates anymore, I am way to sick of wasting my stamps to never get anything out of them.

I did buy a case at 1.09 per quart. Plus the cost of the stamp for the rebate which I never recieved. Probably be a few more months before I get a chance to run it. By then I'll have UOA's of Castrol and Valvoline to compare it to.

Thanks, you made a great point about how it's cheap because it doesn't advertise, not because it's not a good oil. I've seen it for $1.69, cheap here in Ca. I'm going to try it next.

By contrast, I've done probably 7 or 8 c/s/k rebates and have always gotten my check. In fact, I just received my latest rebate check last week for $6.00. After tax and cost of postage, it's about 70 cents a quart. The c/s/k web site has an option to look up your rebate and check the status:

I always include a cut out UPC code from the case box, but I'm not sure if it's required. Works for me. Good luck!
