Not compared to VW 504 00 approval which is also a long-drain approval. If BMW “Longlife” approval is super concerned about oxidation then that’s related to the OCI.

I remember times when ESP 5W30 was absolute gold of an oil. The version prior to the last one, up until maybe 2018.
It had Noack 5.6% and Sulfated Ash at 0.6%.
But, race to the bottom….
I think “race to the bottom” is more the likelihood so finding what hasn’t cheapened has gone up in value. Also why I don’t mind paying for boutique. I trust Amsoil’s Signature line for my needs and wouldn’t hesitate to use their Euro lineup either. HPL on par in my view. Not questioning which line may no longer be premium or be cheaper for cheap’s sake at the customer’s expense.
The ESP 0W30 is a ACEA C3 oil correct ? Any problem to use in a 1980s roller bearing cam , timing belt turbo charged engine ? I like it for its 12cst at 100C viscosity.
I only worry about brand new engines where we don’t know if there’s any coating compatibility issues or if these oils pass things like the Valvetronic test. I’m sure it’s fine and agree with you, but I’d love to not have to use it “off-label” under warranty. I can’t in good conscience recommend it for people in warranty when we have good oils that are also carrying BMW approvals.
