servicing disk brakes with ABS

I need and answer and I have heard both sides, should you clamp off the brake line hose when pushing the piston back in to avoid pushing debris back up into the ABS system?

My practice is to open the bleed port and express out the excess fluid while pushing back the caliper piston.

Most brake experts say it isn't necessary, but I think it is a reasonable precaution.

I do it this way.

1. Bleed/flush caliper.
2. Compress piston.
3. Bleed again.
