2007 Buick Lucern. Low tire pressure light comes on intermittently and we get the message “Service Tire Monitor System “. We s this just a tire pressure monitor or something else? Can it be determined which tire pressure monitor?

Most common reason is one (or more) of your tire sensors are bad. They have a battery life of between 5-8 yrs. Looks like you got your moneys worth out of those. Quick way to prove this is looking at the air pressure display - if one tire shows -- then that is the dead sensor.
2008 Lucerne here and yes if you see a -- in the DIC then that is the one that is out. I suggest picking up this little tool, it has paid for it self over and over. If you have the owners manual it will show you how to access the tire pressure for each tire in the DIC.

Manually check the pressure for each tire beore driving too far would be a good first step.
