When I was a little kid, there was a station that would give out Matchbox (or maybe Hot Wheels?) cars with every fillup. And the glasses, too, or maybe that was at a different station. My parents couldn't resist getting the free stuff since actually BUYING stuff (especially toys!) was something they tried really hard not to do. I am sure most of the Matchbox cars I used to have were from gas stations. And my parents still have various half-complete collections of themed glasses in a cupboard somewhere.I remember back in the 50's certain stations would give out drinking glasses with cartoon character's and other such stuff. Dad was always good to fill up where we could get a freebee. I can also remember in the mid 60's pulling in and getting a dollars worth of fuel.
