This was on my friends car, '06 Civic Si, K20. Think it went about 10K KM if not it was in the 9-10K range. ADBV was pretty stiff.

I believe this filter was used with Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5W30.

I used Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5W30 and a Fram Ultra XG7317.

That's how louvers should look ... opened up pretty good. If barely opened up, then might not be a good thing.

Looks like that filter should be on a Briggs and Stratton

My car has that size filter too. Strange to me due to the fact that my 3.0 Ford Fusion had the whomping XG-2 on it. Good job with your dissection of it sir.

ZeeOSix, I don't think you got the joke, it's meant for the member here that is thinks louvers are a bad thing.

bbhero, Yes the filter is awfully tiny... That's the most recent box of Maxlife I've gotten. All of the ones I've gotten are a synthetic blend. When did they do the changeover to full synthetic? I feel cheated now...

Are louvers a GOOD THING? I bet it is easier to press in the louvers than to stamp out the holes.

Basically less waste is created in the stamping process, you don't have to recycle all those blanks.

Louvers are better for the environment, does it really create a vortex in the filter to increase performance?

Yeah, I know ... for crazyoildude.

Just saying with louvered center tubes, there can be instances where the louvers aren't opened far enough IMO.

Tiny filter, but looks good! Thank you for posting

Are you following the MM with this car?

Nice to see it isn't an ecore like most Service Chimps.

Nice job with the photos and post.

I don't use Service Champ oil filters in my personal cars, but I've used them in friends' cars to keep the price down for them. Serviceable for normal OC intervals IMO and made in USA.

Interesting note about Service Champ: they also carry Fram Ultras for less than $6 and Castrol SFX oil filters for less than $5. But you have to have an account.

Farmer - nice post. Pleats are all straight as an arrow and spacing well controlled.

I am surprised it is not an eCore. Does anyone know which part numbers are eCore and which are standard construction?

Slacktide, yes he follows the OLM maybe goes over a little bit but not too often.

WellOiled, I believe someone said on here if the diameter is less than 3" it's a non eCore filter.

Farmer, since I saw your oil filter dissected and you requested me to cut open the oil filter I took out last Saturday after I finished a 0w20 synthetic oil change on a 2008 Honda Civic Hybrid clocked at 236,000 km, here's what I found today after I used a muffler cutter on it. This is before:

The only reason I cut the oil filter is to see what the differences are between the two kinds of OF4622s, out of curiosity. I hope these answer your questions as much as they answered mine.
