Series 60 Detroit 14L 2.26M mi; Kendall DXA 15w-40 17k mi

Fuel dilution is a non-issue. But what I find astonishing is that an engine with over 2M miles doesn’t need any make up oil during a 17k OCI. It’s obvious the OP has done a great job taking care of this engine.

I spoke to Phillips 66 about this today, they want a virgin oil sample and a used oil sample sent to them and then a used sample sent to Polaris. My concern with switching is that I’ve been told that changing oil can increase wear on internals cause of the difference in oils. Any truth to that?

How do I know if an oil has VM or not? I don’t know that I’d wanna run full synthetic only cause I don’t run extended intervals and I feel like I’d be wasting money with changing so frequent with synthetic. I am ok with a blend though.

No concern switching. If you have a farm supply store near by they will have 5 gallon pails of several different brands. I buy Mystik at Farm & Fleet. They also have Citgo, Rotella, Mobil, Valvoline and a store brand.

No no. The engine has 300k on it, I put the odometer reading in for the mileage so I know when it was taken. Less guess work. But the old engine had 1.9 million on it when I pulled it out still running.

So the chassis has 2.26 million miles on it, but the engine is a replacement with 300,000 miles on it, and the engine ran 17,000 miles on this Kendall??

a bit off topic, but what's all happened beyond the bell housing the past 2.26 million miles?
