Anyone here a premium/paid member? Seems steep to be one, but plenty of stock newsletters are similarly priced.

They just put everything behind a paywall. I used to read what was free, and generally enjoyed reading what folks wrote. But I’m not sure if the cost of entry is worth it.

Any experiences with the paid areas of Seeking Alpha?

No, I have a basic (free) account there. I like using the site, but the premium content just isn't worth it to me. I like seeing other's opinions and articles, but the public content has just about everything I'm interested in.

The only thing I consistently wish I could see for free is the more up-to-date ratings summary when I'm looking at an equity for the first time. Non-premium has the ratings from 6 months prior. It's not enough to justify the price for me though. For where I am and how I use it, the free account is enough.

The public content is all behind a paywall now it seems. I upgraded my phone, and when it downloaded the app, it all went away.

Can you still access public content? I can’t. That’s really what I have interest in too.

Maybe I’m doing something wrong?

I hadn't seen that. I don't use the app though. I use the mobile site when on my phone and I haven't been prevented from seeing anything non-premium so far. Did you maybe have some kind of promo that was letting you see some number of premium articles after signing up?

I previously used the site when most of it was free. It was okay.. about on par with every other financial news source out there. I wouldn't pay for it, but that's just me.

Its an OK site, but be aware lots of the SA articles posted there are from biased sources. Some analyst either owns a stock or his fund owns it, so he posts glowing commentary, or he shorts it so he rips it. I am not saying it a bad site, just understand there are agendas behind some of what you will read there. Otherwise there is some good content to be found.

Some analyst either owns a stock or his fund owns it, so he posts glowing commentary, or he shorts it so he rips it. I am not saying it a bad site, just understand there are agendas behind some of what you will read there. Otherwise there is some good content to be found.

Nothing replaces doing one's own due diligence to be sure. I use others' information, but I'll rarely, if ever, follow someone else's opinion there.

Do your DD is critical. It’s just a source of lots of info and opinions, right, wrong or otherwise.
