Has anyone else seen this guys videos? They are freakin cool! He uses plexiglass to cover the crankcases of various engines and high speed cameras to capture footage. This is one example, but look at the rest of his videos.

Can Mazda "cheat" the emissions by making the generator only work when the vehicle is not being driven?

Sachs used to make small Wankel engines. They made some to fit on a lawnmower, we used them at a hire company I worked for - we took them off because people would hire them, turn the blade upside down and level their rotary hoed section with them. Another company I worked for used them on fridge unit trucks. Normally they used a 16HP Koler or Briggs, which were very heavy and hard to change if they were up high...2 or 3 man job to get it above the cab. You could walk up the ladder with the Sachs Wankel in one hand.

Re emissions: I'd guess applying a Wankel engine to a generator / hybrid car application would be a situation where revs and torque band could be focused or limited and this would help designers tailor the emission output......know what I mean?

ADDITIONAL POST:
I just wasted the >8 minutes of my life watching this dopey video.
A guy running an engine fast is NOWHERE in the info department. No flame front info....nothin' but "Would you look at that"
He showed slow motion running for 2 seconds at 3:30.

The info on the cameras themselves was the most informative part.
