Does anyone have any info on where to get a Primus side cut key copied. I know these are not supposed to be copied and most places can't cut them and if they can won't without a certificate. Trust me there is legitimate reason for wanting a copy and nothing nefarious and the only other way to get a copy is to pay like $100.

Any key machine will cut a Schlage Primus, it is a matter of finding the blanks. The side cuts are already cut into the blank when they ship, so they can be backwards compatible in regular Schlage C keyway cylinders. They are restricted, and only certain locksmiths can buy certain versions of Primus. Findout who initially installed the cylinders and you'll be able to find the blanks.

There is chance that the cylinder is just an SC1/SC4 so you try having the key duplicated on a regular C key blank and see if it works.

my ole man is a good man, he's 66 yrs old. but he gets so mad behind the wheel whenever someone flys by him on the road. he's a guy that only goes 5 mph over the speed limit and hasn't hit another car since the late 60's. Anyone else that goes faster than 5mph over the limit is an "idiot" to him.

So the Primus blanks all have the same side cuts precut into the blanks and the C key has the same side cuts as well? I did not know that. I took the key to Lowe's and they apparently didn't have the right blanks and could only cut the normal cuts. The key slid into the lock but would not unlock it. I think the company that installed the lock wants a big fee for a copy but I'm not sure.

Then it is a primus cylinder. There are probably a couple hundred different versions of that sidecut, but they will only sell that particular cut to a certain customer or locksmith - that way a shop across town can't cut a key for an unauthorized person.

OK thanks, yeah I beilieve the cylinder is Primus along with the key. It sounds like there is no way to get another key made without going through the original locksmith and paying the high fee.
