Sebring Engine Flush

I had a Stratus RT with the 2.7 it leaked every fluid possible from the engine and the transmission leaked fluid also, all at 60k miles. I too found out about the 2.7 grenade after buying one. Glad I got rid of it. That was my option lol

I have a few cars. I own a 2003 Sebring 2.4. Love that car.

The 2.7 is a mutt. Nice horsepower nice car but sludge issue.

Option 3:
Run Mobil 1 10w30 at 3,000 OCI. Don't use any additives. Mobil 1 is excellent.
If you really want to get sexy run Redline 10-30. That oil is awesome and you could extend your oci to 5K. Expensive at $10 a quart but cheaper than a new motor. I guarantee Redline will not sludge. Its not possible. Every one who sludges is running conventional oil.

Redline motor oil is the strangest feeling oil between your fingers you have ever felt. Its like wet plastic. Its awesome [censored]. I got some in my 2.4 right now.

You worry to much, just run it with any good oil for a reasonable time between oci´s. If you are going to dope your oil i suggest a quart of redline...

The 2.7 liter engine originally had a tendency to generate sludge which caused engine failure. Similar problems have been appearing on Toyota and Volkswagen engines. We were told that, shortly after the first reported cases, Chrysler isolated the problem to the crankcase ventilation system; hydrocarbons were entering the oil and breaking down the additives. This problem was solved (around 2002-2004), and the number of engine failures appears to be small.

One last thing I will add from my experience. After so many oil changes the drain hole threads were shot in the aluminum oil pan. It would drip no matter what I did. The new owner (bless him) replaced the oil pan with a brand new one. He followed my advice and did full synthetic oil changes every 3000 miles. He wrecked the car just as it turned over 150,000 miles.

My son's Sebring is a 2001 with the 2.4, we love it, the thing has been awesome and it's about to roll 155k. When we bought it we were specifically trying to avoid the 2.7.

We had the drain plug problem develop as well, the threads eventually stripped, we just bought one of those butterfly replacement plugs at AAP, it works just fine.

Over time we've noticed his car seems to really like Maxlife, so that's all we give it now.
