Well, if you go to autozone or advance the M1 in ANY grade is like $7 or $8 a qt. It was $4.99 also, my mistake.

We have the same oil at our only remaining nearby Sears.
Syntec 5W-50 API SJ?
At full price?
Really?
Clearly clueless.

I got a few quarts left of that I'm slowly using up. The "Castrol Syn" in my signature in the Prius is actually that kind and grade.

I got it for $2/qt.

I bought a case of Syntec 5W-50 API SJ on clearance from Meijer a few years back.
It ran $1.66/qt.
Should have bought more.

How do you like the Syntec 5W50? I've come close to buying it before. I bought two oil change's worth of Syntec 10W40 at Walmart the other night.

I use it for top up and add it to dino fills for a "smoother" feel. I know that sounds barbaric but I think you know what I mean.

I tried straight Castrol 5w50 in our Hyundai and I was getting all kinds of groans and loss of horsepower. This was in the dead of summer as well. We drained it @ 11 miles/3 days and I've had it around as spare top up oil/synthetic additive. I've even used it to pry open stuck latches!

I guess I wouldn't buy a ton if I had the chance again...it's just too old and too heavy. For $2 I'm not complaining much. I'm just trying to find applications to use it since I can't seem to use it in large doses without some kind of consequences.

I ran some of this oil in our old Aerostar.
I couldn't see much difference between it and a typical 5W-30, but then the Ford Vulcan was never rev-happy nor picky about oil.
I have enough left for one run in the BMW this summer, so we'll see how that works out.
