seafoam in the tranny

has anybody ever used it? I seen AA has a dedicated transmission version. I think I'm experiencing a sticking valve in my 4L80E. I dropped the pan and changed the filter and topped off with Dex VI, but it still acts up on occasion.

I was thinking of doing one of three things which would you do:

1. Drop pan and change filter again and top off with more Dex VI and add a bottle of LubeGard I have.

2. Add some seafoam run it for awhile then change the fluid.

3. Just add the LG now and see if it fixes it.

The truck only has 26K on it

the trans seafoam isn't dedicated for the transmission, it's simply a stronger version (and dyed red) of regular Seafoam.

To use it properly, you could've added it maybe 300miles before you change the fluid & filter.

Adding the lubegard is a great choice, and I would actually just do that so you don't have to waste more time & money dropping the pan & refilling.

My vote is for Lubegard red

If you know for sure that the problem is a sticking valve, then a solvent type additive may help.

Solvent or ester? Go for the lubegard red or platinum. You can leave it in there indefinitely.

With any solvent product, you'll need to flush the transmission completely after usage. Plus, you'll be thinning the fluid out with Seafoam.

Trans Seafoam is the SAME as regular seafoam.

With 26k miles, there should be NOTHING sticking anywhere in your transmission. And, occasional acting up sounds like a sensor, grounding, wiring, or electronic gremlin.

You could try a can of BG quick clean, followed by a full flush with Dexron-VI.

Oh... missed the 26k part!
You may have a faulty solenoid.

I again made the mistake of assuming 100% correctness on the part of the original poster concerning what specifically is wrong.
