I am in the process of tuning up a truck I just bought. I plan on seafoaming the engine through a vacuum line. My problem is I am new to all this and I'm not sure the order I should do these things. I'm also going to use A-RX in the oil and FP60 in the fuel.

I plan on changing the plugs, plug wires, PCV valve, oil change with A-RX, all filters including fuel. Should I wait on changing the oil and fuel filter after the seafoam, or should I change the fuel filter now then change it again soon after?

EDIT: The fuel filter on it now is probably in bad shape. The previous owner has had financial problems for awhile and always ran the fuel on empty by putting just what he needed in daily. Because of this I also have to change the fuel pump because it is ready to go at any time. Good thing the price was right

Thanks

I personally don't see a reason to change the oil just because of using Seafoam. Go ahead and do the Seafoam treatment, but after using it, take it out for a 30 minute highway trip to burn off any of the solvents which may have worked their way into the crankcase.

Since you have a list of things to do all at once, wait and change the fuel filter along with the oil, plugs, wires, PCV valve. I wouldn't worry about the changing the filter again soon afterwards, maybe another year/15,000 miles, but no sooner than that. After that, normal 2 years/30,000 miles would be sufficient, unless the manufacturer suggests a shorter interval.

Most people will say change oil after the seafoam treatment in case you have a lot of blowby past your rings. Warm the engine up fully before the seafoam to minimize the blowby. I would do the seafoam before the new plugs as well.

As far as the fuel filter & fuel pump goes, change those whenever you want, I see no connection between those & the other mentioned stuff.

edit: I have to say I agree with CT and don't feel an oil change is absolutely necessary after seafoam. But if I was going to do both I would do the seafoam first.

1 Air Filter
1 Fuel Filter
1 Plug Wires
1 PCV Valve
(Above should/could be done all at one time)
2 Do the Seafoam Treatment through a vacuum hose(Drive at least 30 mins hard)
3 Undo the original spark plugs and insert 1to2ozs of Seafoam into each cylinder and reinstall original plugs. Let sit overnight. Drive for 30 mins hard the next morning.
4 Install NEW Spark Plugs
5 Change Oil and Filter and begin ARX treatment as well as FP60.

Hope this helps.

Sorry, I got my thoughts crossed on that post. I planned on doing a high dose of fuel system cleaner too and was wondering if the Fuel filter should be changed right away with fuel pump or after I run the fuel system cleaner.

For the Fuel system cleaner I was going to use Gumout Regane. Or I might just up the dosage on FP60 at first (I have several gallons). Any thoughts on which product to use?

The plugs will be changed after the Seafoam. On the spirited drive after seafoam... Should I go on a long highway drive or a stop and go drive were I can get on the gas from take offs. I have a highway near me that I can just loop a mile drive a few times by taking the exit ramps back and forth.
