Screen/storm doors

Hello,

What do you find to be the best sotrm and screen doors? My house has some old aluminum ones that are on their last legs.

I looked at pella, andersen and larson doors, and found pella to be the best, but in the end all, I think id prefer somethinga bit lighter and easier to handle.

Im looking for a door that is considered a "mid" door, preferably with a glass lower half and an exchangable glass/screen top for ventilation.

Honestly, even the pella one wasnt all that great, because they have these pull up/push down screen system that goes into the door, but when it is at the screen, the framing of the top and bottom windows dont line up, so it looks weird.

Any suggestions?

Don't know how they help up, but I once installed a Larson and a no name the same day. The no name was much easier to instal.

It is hard to buy parts for Pela. Something breaks, pay an authorized Pela technitian to fix it.

sheesh... its a storm door, not a fancy piece of electronics. Points off for pella.

Maybe I can find a good loking no name that is set up how I like.. The name brands were all awful fancy and heavy.. and the cheaper versions of the name brand ones really didnt look all that great.

Probably a door wholesaler in your area catering to the higher end of the market. Go by their shop, as I do, to scope out what is available; how long have they carried that line; are they happy with it; insurance work timeliness on damage, etc. I usually get a written estimate to help convince my wife that the latest house won't handle a $4,000 door set.

In remodeling, homework means leg work.
