As a weird aside, there are 2 pronunciations for goetta...my inlaws pronounce it Gutta, like your gut, younger people say Getta, like get something.

Sounds very good

Ha, I missed this thread the first time around. Never had livermush but I do love scrapple. "The other grey meat". Sliced thin and fried up so it's crispy on the outside and a bit soft in the middle. Didn't eat it growing up here in MD but was introduced to it in college near Philadelphia.

My Mom used to make scrapple for breakfast on weekends, when she wasn't making her great waffles. Scrapple won't kill you, with a little warm Mrs. Butterworths on it...and some bacon on the side.

I never heard of livermush but I bet I wouldn't like it because I do not like liver.

The scappple I've had needed seasoning. The scrapple I've seen in diners was sliced from a deli-loaf.

Does it come in links and patties too?
Homemade scrapple is better. It takes experimenting to get the seasoning right.

Both sound delicious but would make my gout flare up the next day. The closest thing I can get here is Braunschweiger.

I went to Philadelphia last year with my boss and her husband. We went to the Reading Terminal Market. I kept hearing about scrapple so we found a place and ordered some. It was a little on the greasy side for my taste but with eggs and toast sounds amazing.

Grew up in Lancaster County, PA. Scrapple was a staple back in the 1950's. Had it for breakfast with syrup and many times for dinner. Today, I can't stand the stuff anymore!

🤮I still live in Lancaster County and I never cared for scrapple and livermush

While at the Market, did you get to stop by Termini’s Bakery? Best cannolis south of NY!

I've never heard of scrapple it livermush (born and raised in NE Ohio, live in Chicago now), had to Google them to see since I tend to like liver, offal, tripe, headcheese and that kind of stuff.

Don't know where to find it around here, but will have to try it if I ever see it!

Kroger in Cincinnati stocks scrapple in the frozen case, even though it's not a local product.

I would never eat liver mush I may be a southerner but that’s not for me. As for scrapple that stuff is amazing and living out in the country like I do I go to the little supermarket down the road and buy it there oh man it’s so good.

Hard nope for me on livermush, no experience with scrapple. Some of my friends from NC love livermush. To me there is a "wet dog" element to the smell as it is cooking that makes it totally unappetizing for me. Have never tried it and don't plan to.
