Scored Big Time at Big Lots

I've got SLOB, and VSOT. What say a 50/50 mixture, resulting in "SLOT"? I don't know how to calculate the thinkness and ppm, etc, but what would that combo yield?

BTW, for anyone interested, I ....LEFT ABOUT 25 SLOBs at the Big Lots at Holt/San Antonio in Ontario. I didn't need anymore, so....I ONLY BOUGHT 3!!!!

Maybe I should go back and get the rest at $1 each, and sell them at a garage sale for $2 each!

Nah, just buy 'em and use 'em.

Man 60 bottles? I have 4 from the $1.99 price, and stopped by to pick up 3 more for $1/ea. I'm not sure why, b/c it'll take me a couple years to use them, maybe I'll up the dose to 2oz/qt.

For some reason I added 2-3oz of SLOB to my crankcase when I didn't even plan on using any additves with this OCI of Maxlife syn.

It was there so I just did it.

Saw some 76 Synthetic Blend 5w30 SM oil for $1.90 at Big Lots yesterday. Not good enough price to grab....yet.

went there 2 days ago...

they had Valvoline MaxLife Engine Protector, 3 bottles for $2 each so i grabbed those. Then they had the pink SLOB for 99 cents each, grabbed one of those. They also had the Valvoline MaxLife antifreeze for $7.50 a gallon.

LOL, I go out into my stash every night staring at it thinking...."What am I going to do with all this?" I have a whole box of synthetic Pennzoil I haven't even put on the shelf....

One things for sure, all my oil will be spiked with SLOB for years to come...

I'm for SLOB over VSOT and won't touch MLEP. SLOB has much more zddp than VSOT. And I don't like the thickness of VSOT. If I want to thicken my oil I would rather add synthetic 20w50. On the other hand VSOT has a lot of nice goodies and one former site member did used oil analysis and saw reductions in iron with one oz VSOT per quart, which would negate the increased viscosity thing pretty much.

I ended up going to big lots today and picking up some SLOB (or at least i believe this is it) can anyone tell me if this is right?

and also how does this stuff play with Valvoline MaxLife?

That's it. You need to ask your BigLots to mark down their SLOB to $1. That's what it's supposed to be going for right now. I haven't mixed it with Maxlife. I have mixed it with Castrol Tection Extra 15W40 and with Castrol Syntec 5W50. I could make something up and say "My engine likes this stuff!" but without an analysis.....

I'm just going off the fact that it's gotta be pretty good for what's in it.

Just stopped at Big Lots today and got 5 more at a buck each. They have about a dozen more but those were still marked $1.99. I'll save the stickers from the buck bottles to show them if I want any more, but now I have 23 bottles along with 1.5 quarts of Bruces PCMO add (21000 ppm zinc), which will go to making PCMO into pseudo-HDMO for my new used motorhome.

According to the new oil analysis data on this site, MLEP does not have very much in the way of additives. It seems mainly to be thickener and seal conditioner. VSOT is much better.

From this linked thread:
Valvoline Engine Protector (Sample purchased by Molecule with elemental Analysis by Terry Dyson).

Al 3
Silicon (Si) 0
Sodium (Na) 12
Potassium (K) 11
Molybdenum (Mo) 489
Phosphorus (P) 567
Zinc (Zn) 625
Calcium (Ca) 240
Magnesium (Mg) 57

Compare VSOT from this linked thread:
Zinc: 1750 ppm
Phos: 1800
Moly: 2300
Calcium: 1050
Boron: 1050
Magnesium: 950

has a good dose of moly... i know it isn't VSOT, but that stuff is $5 a bottle here... thought it was a good deal at $2 each.

how does SLOB compare to VSOT as a friction reducer? also, would it be unwise to mix them? like an ounce of each?
