Scored Big Time at Big Lots

BITOG hoard mentality cracks me up. Not trying to knock those of you with a sizeable stash, but I just think it is funny.

43 bottles of additive? And some people on here have over 200 quarts of oil? Some BITOG'ers probably have more oil than the local Wal-Mart. I just dont see the point.

My personal oil/additive/etc stash: 0 (zero)

Extra zddp provides extra antiwear protection and also can extend the OCI because it also functions in acid neutralization. There may be other functions that someone like MolaKule or Bruce381 could answer (well just look up Multi Function Additives on a search, can't remember which forum).

Go ahead and SLOB the Amsoil. Won't hurt a bit.

I finally got SLOB for $1 a bottle and now have 18 bottles. There still are about 18 left at my Big Lots. I am tempted to clean them out, but don't know how long this stuff will keep.

IIRC, VSOT has moly. VSOT is much thicker than SLOB, though. So if you don't want to thicken your oil, go SLOB.

When I saw Havoline Synthetic for 79 cents, I went to 10 different Advance Auto Parts to buy (72 quarts) on closeout. When PepBoys had the Buy 3, get 3 Free Mobil 1 deal last year, I had to stock up (10 cases). Target had Castrol GTX for 48 cents, I bought 22 quarts. This week all QuakerState & Pennzoil is on closeout at Home Depot, I bought 6 cases of Pennzoil and 2 cases of QS.

My oil buying mentality is....

I save money in the long run by shopping at closeout sales and stocking up. Its not like I won't be driving a car 10 years from now.

At last count....I'm up to 170 quarts of oil, 9 quarts of Honda Z1 ATF, 2 quarts of Honda MTF, and 22 oil filters for 5 different cars (4 Hondas and a Chevy). I think alot of people who have a big oil stash are just like me. Cheap.

does SLOB have any moly at all? or does VSOT just have more? and which one would be "better" to use with maxlife oil?

SLOB has zero moly.

Either product is fine. VSOT will thinken your oil and because of that half a bottle maybe enough. VSOT certainly has a better additive package, but SLOB packs a bigger punch for the additives it has.

SLOB is like Budweiser, whereas VSOT is like a fine champagne.

Well next time I get over the Big Lots I might as well clean them out. What have I got to loose. Price of a Pizza.

Was taking the long way home today from picking up the kids. The wife is working late so we were killing time. I found ANOTHER Big Lots!!!!!

Twenty-five "$1" bottles of SLOB. Their stock hadn't even been touched. Then I passed by Advance and got a $.79 bottle of VSOT, $11 six pack of Havoline HM, and 2 $2.95 bottles of Havoline synthetic 10W30.

I think having cleaned out both Big Lots I'm good on SLOB. For some reason, I now have 60 bottles.

Dude, I gotta shop near you! The only place here that has VSOT is a pepboys and they are selling it for 4.69. The only Havoline we have is the reg stuff, not HM or syn.

Lol, NO at Advance! Remember they used to sell it? MIne had it 1/2 off in the clearance bin. Im priniting off a list of locations and warming the car!
