So my first ever visit to Pep Boys for the Mobil 1 deal.
Checked online before i went and it suggested the store I chose had stock of the M1 0w40. But it's only ever shown a M1 filter for my other car which to me is worth about $5 as I otherwise buy P1.
Get to the store which is huge, and can't see any 0w40. In fact very little M1 at all.
Find one jug of 0w40 on some boxes but I need to buy 2 jugs so am disappointed. Ask a lady who happens to be in the same aisle and she looks and confirms they are out. Says they have nothing out back but get stock on Monday. Not helpful for me because I don't pass that Pep Boys that often, in fact none are that convenient to me.
So I go to the filter section and find they only have 1 filter for the size I need so I decide to walk around and see what else they sell. I find lots of interesting things including the Gumout 3 step not for retail sale professional fuel system cleaner. No price on it though.
Before leaving the store disappointed, I decide to go back to the oil aisle and look behind the M1 5w20 jugs. Lo and behold, two 5.1 quart jugs of the 0w40!
But I realize I'm still out of luck on the filters to get the deal.
So I go to the filter aisle and look behind the last filter but nothing there.
So I start thinking that there are a lot of M1 filters there. Lets double check they don't have the (more expensive) filter for the car taking the 0w40. Using their filter application lookup book, lo and behold, they do have the filter I need and have exactly 2 of them left!
Final score: 2 x $20 filters and 2 x $40 jugs of 0w40 for $65 with tax.
I value the filters at $10 each so the 0w40 works out at $4 a quart.
