I "discovered" an unopened 5 quart jug of M1 ESP 5W30 in a long forgotten cupboard but to use it in our 2018 Golf R I would need one more quart. So I picked up a quart bottle of the same but I noticed this new bottle doesn't list dexos2 as did the much older 5 quart bottle. I have been out of the BitOG loop for several years now...when did M1 ESP 5W30 did it lose the dexos2 certification?

All the Euros updated their oil approvals over the last couple of years and the market has moved to API SP addpacks so perhaps M1 is waiting for GM to move to the new Dexos approval rather than spend the money to renew one which is soon to be outdated.
And given the specific approvals that oil holds I can't really understand why one would care. Especially since it's being used in a VW what has an approval requirement.

A YT celebrity recently said that Dexos certification would need to be retriggered if the base oil is changed, but API certs do not require it. I believe Dexos 2 is going away anyway so companies are probably not bothering to pay the club dues, and/or going through the motions for the replacement certs.
I delved in to the API - PDFs a few times and fell asleep. Maybe the same docs are public for Dexos, I'd be interested in falling asleep to those PDFs too but a quick google search didnt give me much.

New approval from GM is coming. Mobil1 usually does not list approvals that will become obsolete.
Yes this is the SN version. Retains Renault or whatever approvals were lost in the SP.
M1 ESP P 5W-30. Different brew. Different approvals.
M1 ESP without 'P' but with VW 504 00, MB 229.51&52, BMW LL-04 will remain.

If you change any little thing without redoing, mainly repay the licencing fee you lose your dextros badge.

Is that dextros, dextrose or dexos?
The licensing agreement will specify exactly what can be changed and what cannot, much like the API interchange requirements.
My bad some how my phone learned that dextrose is a word and dexos is nothing.
I heard if any little change was made they oil maker had to redo the dexos certs and that involves revealing every ingredient to gm and paying gm probably a lot of money for each certified product.

Pour point indicates healthy PAO levels. However, KV100 is lower than old ESP 5W30. Probably bit changed to get other approvals.-

I have mostly used M1 ESP 0W30 in this mk7.5 but will use this ESP 5W30 next time round.
