And yet another update, the Steiner, made in the USA with German glass is only $2,800, basically $1K less than the Vortex.
This has become far more of a PITA than I had anticipated.

Absolutely nothing based on the reviews I've just read. Apparently the Steiner is a fantastic optic with German glass that is better than the Japanese glass in the Vortex. They also have the same warranty.

I think I'm just going to get the Vortex, I know it is good, I haven't read a single bad review about the bloody thing and it is in stock at the warehouse so I can have it in a day or two.

I dunno. This is like that time I bought the non-Michelin snow tires for the Charger and have regretted doing so constantly. I think I'll just ante up and buy the known-good.

So, optics done, I ordered the Vortex RZR-42704 on Friday.

It's apparently a pretty heavy scope, which, since it is going on a gun that's also extremely heavy, doesn't really matter.
I also ordered the CADEX mount with the level top rear site for it. Will post up some real pics once I have it in my hands.
