Scooter oil ?

Hello everyone. I have a Kymco xciting 500 and have been using mobil 1 oil. This machine has no cluch and wanted to ask what flavor you think is best? 5w40 or the 15w50? Bike calls for 5w50 but says if not available follow chart. Chart shows 15w50 good for 35 degrees to 100+ degrees. Just wanted to ask my fellow bitogers for there opinion!! Thanks guys!

It's not a good idea to skimp on viscosity on a motorcycle. As long as you won't be riding with the starting temperature much under 35F, 15W-50 sounds like a good oil for you.

How is the vibration on that thumper?

Between the two Mobil 1 oils, I'd just run the spec'd 15W-50 alternate and not sweat about it. But, have you checked on the availability of Motorcraft 5W-50? It's a full synthetic spec'd for the Ford GT and Shelby GT500, so it should have no problem dealing with that 500cc single.

If you don't mind my asking, what has your experience been with the Xciting 500? Would you buy it again, if you could do it all over again? Positives, negatives, anything that really stands out? Thanks.

First of all thanks! As for the xciting, yes I would for sure by it again,it runs so smoooth! At first I was a little weary cause I had the thinking like"oh no a scooter" but I loved how it looked and after reading the reviews I went for it! It is a 500cc fuel injected single! Has an oil filter!! I must say I am very impressed with this machine! Keeps up easily with the big bikes and cruizes on the freeway at 80 all day! Had it up to 95 and backed off! This is the smoothest running and riding bike I have ever rode!!

Oh, just in case you need it, the part number on the Motorcraft 5W-50 is XO-5W50-QGT.

Since it's liquid cooled and not a race engine, I would think a Rotella in 15w40 or T6 in 5W-40 would be more than adequate.
