I was looking into a Scion Xa, but I do not know if that is a good idea, being that Scion is a fledgling brand and parts may not be readily available. I need a small car that has a lot of space, as I live close to NYC and parking is at a premium.

The xA is one of the best Scions in my view, it is like the slightly nicer version of the Yaris.

Don't worry about parts they are easily available and this same car was sold in many other markets besides the US.

that's good to know, because I really want this car to be an economical car to own!

NOW, if u had to choose, would you choose the Xa, Yaris, Fit or Versa??

The Xa and 1st gen Xb are the only Scions that got the 1.5L 1NZFE; now that unit is found only in the Yaris (and the previously the !echo!) and Scions get the larger 2.3L, relegating their entire line to "just another 30mpg car" and off the potential list of many buyers including myself.

My 1.5L has been a gem of an engine.

I love my xB. People criticize the center gauge cluster as being weird, but the result is a tiny steering wheel, which is cool (it doesn't have to be huge so that you can see the gauges through it). The overall packaging (small exterior, huge interior) is impressive as well.

If there is one criticism that I have with Scions, it's their gearing. The gear ratios are all high (low gears) and the cars tend to scream down the highway at high RPM. The Yaris and Echo are more normal.

When I was car shopping, the Yaris did not have cruise control available. If that's important...

Seriously. Who needs 2.3L in an econobox?

Ridiculous.

The Versa is really not in the same class as the other cars you mention is it closer to a compact car not a subcompact.

That being said it does get good MPGs and is ok to drive but not great it is very cheap to buy.

The Yaris is a great little car, it is like the Toyota of old, value priced, excellent build quality, simplicity, good durability, and easy and cheap to maintain.

The Fit is great to drive very practical, good reliability, with so so mpgs, and they are expensive to buy for what you get, if you do by the Fit DO NOT get the Sport model. The base model is just fine and much cheaper.

The used car market today especially small cars are not a god value . Essentially they are ripping people a new one that buy small used cars.

If I were you I'd go for the Yaris or Fit, buy either one new.

If the Yaris is cheap enough I would buy it first, but if I could get the Fit for about the same price as the Yaris I might be interesting in it because it is a good driver.

Remember do NOT go for the sport model Fit. They are a rip off!
Base model is the best value!
