Schaeffers Supreme 7000 vs Mobil 1

The Schaeffer Supreme 7000 is an excellent product and the best bang for the $$$. Its additive package is vastly superior to Mobil 1.

I run it in my wife's Honda Odyssey. I ran it in my former vehicle, 1994 Nissan Altima, a known oil abuser. The results were very good for the 9 months and 6,000 miles of commuting.

With Lube Control and the highway miles, I believe that you could get close to 10K intervals but oila analysis would be necessary.

Unless you need or want the extreme condition protection of a full synthetic basestock, the Schaeffers should otherwise equal the M1 in most applications, and at significant savings.

I like them both, but think the Schaeffers a very strong formula . . . and my present oil when RL is not needed.

And the 7000's blue-green tint adds a very pleasant "faux GC" feel!

that is, Schaeffer Supreme 7000 synthetic blend, in the weight of your choice. I once ran it for over 15,000 miles in my Neon, UOA showed 4 ppm iron.

M1 is good stuff too, but I bet it can't beat that!

Mmmmm . . . I recall a certain Kendall GT-1 (one in my oil "hall of fame") being green before any of 'em.

I have enough Schaeffers 7000 5w30 to do one fill on my 3.4L 4Runner. I'm doing an Auto Rx treatment on it now and after that I'm going run the 7000 for 7500 miles and do a used oil analysis. I'm really curious about it myself.

Well, since there really is no ONE superior oil, I perhaps was thinking that I'd support the smaller oil companies other than pay for the retirement of execs... and also get possibly a better product doing so. For my driving habits, I do not think I need Mobil 1, and my wallet doesn't either at $5/quart. So, If I can get the Schaeffers for a good price, I think I'll at least try it. I do need to get some samples analyzed though of the Mobil 1 and the Havoline. I also wanted to try Schaeffers fuel additive to clean my injectors as well.

Schaeffers 5-30 7000 was used for thousands of miles in our old go to work 95 Escort. No oil usage or problems whatsoever. Put a fill of Mobil 1 5w30 in and within a couple hundred a slight top end tapping sound became evident. After 3200 miles and a 1/2 quart top up along the way the Schaeffers went back in and before long their was no more tapping noise and the engine requires no oil. Also, use the Schaeffers in a 95 4-runner with excellant results.

While I feel that Mobil 1 is excellent, I feel that Schaeffer might be better and certainly is lower cost per mile. I'm getting 10,000 miles good analysis reports with Schaeffer #703 10w30 in my Tundra.

Bought in quantity, my last price was $40/case or $3.33/qt., delivered to my front door.

But you have to buy $300 worth to get that price. And the case price may have gone up. Check with Mark, who is nice to deal with.

Anyone have any opinions on this? I have a 2004 Toyota Tacoma with the 3.4L V6. I ran Mobil 1 after draining the factory fill at 3k miles... I'm up to 29k now, but have been running Havoline 5w30 for the last OCI and have about 3k more miles on this OCI running Hav as well. Schaeffers looks like a very good oil... and I do not believe that I need a full synthetic. Usually summers are about 105+ here in the desert, and low 20s during the winters. My truck lives in the garage at night.

I'm really interested in keeping this truck for awhile, and typically I drive the truck to work and back about twice a week, 20mi round trip in town, and we usually take it on any distances that are out of town.. highways, etc. So probably 60% hwy, 40% city driving, OCIs of 5k using Toyota OEM filters.

You can get away with almost anything. If the havoline is doing the task do you need to spend more?

Both are excellent oils. BTW if I could get schaffer's OTS I would use it over M-1.
