Previous oil run was Castrol GTX 5w30 @ 2-2.5K intervals. Fresh batch of Schaeffer's in now and I will see if he'll extend the drain interval a little further, and probably change the air filter. He had a fit running this interval for that amount of miles!

In the past Schaeffer's has been generous with their silicon in their VOA's. Anti-foaming additive. As high as 6ppm and possibly more. But a new air filter is a good idea at any time.

Test results were exceptional to me. Good oil and fits well in this engine. Wear numbers low to very low. Motorcraft Full Flow and 5K miles on the oil seem to work good together.

I think this car well broken in with the Schaeffer oil can go 5000 mile intervals.This is a great looking oil report the TBN at 1.7 but these oils seem to go down slower just because of such good base oils.This is about it though the fuel and insolubles are about done too.

rebel. you're a heck of a salesman to get him to go out that far vs. "old school". The next analysis with schaeffer's in for round two should be more indicitive. Do I hear 6k?

I was getting out of my league but why pushit I hope he goes 7500.If the Nissan manual tells me to go 7500 miles on Castrol 5w30 which I see as Schaeffer doing much better your probally right.

Great report. Your experience with Schaeffer's #701 mirrors mine with the wife's 2002 Explorer. The first OCI was 4100 miles, the TBN was 2.0. The very next run was 8200 miles, doubled, and the wear numbers were the same or even less

! The TBN was 1.0. My used oil analysis TBN's are by Blackstone, which are much less than other TBN's listed by other labs. I understand that a Blackstone TBN of 1 is equivalent of 3.0-3.5 by dexil testing. So I doubled the use and still got great wear #'s and the oil still has some life left in it. I think Schaeffer's TBN starts around 7+ but obviously the add package allows it to stay fairly level and only drop off very little as the miles accumulate. I'd definitely go to 6,500++++ miles next time. This oil can easily do it. For me even buying a couple cases at a time and paying shipping it's still no more expense or even slightly less than buying Mobil 1 5w30 when you factor in NJ sales tax on the Mobil 1. Plus it's a lot more convenient
