I'm very impressed that wear dropped by half on about **** near everything during this interval! Especially since this is the 1st UOA since the head swap. After the new heads were on I ran some SuperTech 10w30 for 200 miles to clean out the motor and then put in this oil. After draining this oil I refilled with Straight Schaeffer 15w40 PAO Blend and will do an UOA before winter. Opinions Guys?

Goodvibes, My guess would be that the new heads really depleted the Moly in the oil due to uptake as the heads were brand new castings that had never seen oil. Same thing happens when you switch a car that has never had oil containing moly to oil than contains moly.

Well the lead is down. I'm sure that the new heads makes comparisons sort of difficult. The next report should tell all.

Still looks like all is well with the engine.

Considering the way you use the engine those look like excellent numbers with the trend going the right way. I wonder if the wear reduction in iron and lead is due to break-in progress or to the slightly thicker oil from your mix of 15w40 into the oil.

With your usage, I would use the 15w40 in the summer and your blend in the winter. Are winters pretty mild and/or is your car garaged overnight? If so, you might run 15w40 year round.

Generally I'm a fan of the new thin 5W-20 oils in engines and usage which calls for them, but for your kind of very hard driving something heavier makes sense.

The most recent fuel dilution number stands out as being way up. This makes me wonder if the fuel injection is properly calibrated to your modified engine. Flashpoint and viscosity are, however, not consistent with 2.7% fuel dilution. Is the fuel number a typo?

Another great report ... but I wondered about the aluminum too.

Still, with that many modifications, this engine is looking really nice.

I bet straight Schaeffer 15w40, used consistently, will work just fine.

I think probably your filter choice is important as well as you need all the flow you can get. The NAPA (Wix) is a good choice. Apparently Purolator Plus (not the pricey version) and Baldwin flow well after reading some oil filter studies.

My SS is garage kept and usually only see's 3K miles from OCT-MAR during the winter. I will more than likely use either this blend or the 15w40 depending on the used oil analysis. My car's PCM was tuned by Mike Kleman owner of Rapid Motorsports and it's a beautiful tune as it drives **** close to stock for what it is. Air Fuel Ratio is 12.9-1 Across the board at WOT. The Fuel number is probably a typo as they had the mileage down wrong also. I've had good suscess with the Napa aka Wix filters so I will continue using them.
