Schaeffers #238

I just got some Schaeffers #238 ULTRA SUPREME NLGI Grade #2
is this grade suitable for North East climates? I was going to use Amsoil polymeric off road but they wanted me to sign up for the preferred customer program again and it was a little expensive just to get some grease.

How do these greases compare,is the Aluminum complex more compatible with lithium complex then the Calcium-Sulfonate Complex?

Yes, the aluminum complex is more compatible with lithium complex.

Both are very good greases. Also, the NLGI #2 should be fine in your area this winter, assuming you are applying it inside. It is easier to pump when above 40F.

Thanks Johnny. At $10.00 for x2 tubes and $5 to ship it seems like a fair price.

Johnny i have an older truck here with sealed for life joints that are not worn out but the grease is almost gone,i can remove the boots with no problem,wipe them off and fill the boots with grease. Would this be safe to use in these also without compatibility issues? I have no idea what Ford uses on the 2001 F250 for grease.

If you can get enough grease in there, there would be no issues.

Johnny info is good, i use 238 in cold temps also but the gun is kep in a heated shop or cab but not always.

238 is top of the line grease! you did good.

Hello guys: Just started (last few months) using 238. Bought initially as fifth wheel grease, for extra tack. Been very pleased so far. Also using it in pins, front ends,driveshaft slip joints etc. Cant bring myself to use it in U-joints, bearings etc, but have been pleased so far in current use. Just my thoughts....

Use it in Heavy truck/Payloader U joints every day,the best thing to use.

bearings Mehh maybe not but everything else yes.

I got a couple of tubes of it last week. Used it to refresh my old balljoints and TRE's and also found it worked well on the sliding points for a Corolla 5speed transmission. Interestingly enough the clutch fork had grease the exact same grey color but it was dried out and caked since it had been installed 140k ago in 96.

Lithium Complex is only PARTIALLY compatible with with BOTH the Aluminum complex and the Calcium Complex. AC being almost incompatible altogether(depending on the thickener). Try to flush out all that remaining grease before you introduce something new to avoid computability issues.
