Schaeffer oils - still no SN/GF-5 designation?

I know it's a relatively new spec, but most of the major oil co's have updated their products and spec sheets to meet API SN/GF-5.

Shaeffer oil, although a smaller company, is still a competitive one, in the 'forefront' in many areas. Yet, there is no indication on their site that their products have been upgraded to meet SN/GF-5.

Is Shaeffer still considering whether to upgrade to the latest specs?

my guess is that they will remain like RP,RL and have the better additives. and thus remain SL for MOST of their line...maybe a second line of SN

Their oil right now show they are API SM/GF-4.

I'm assuming they will go SN/GF-5, they just seem slow compared to other companies.

The delay to certify new GF5/SN oils has been due to the lack of the qualifying fuel to prove the VG (five-G) test. API will provide a provisional approval, but I'm sure a lot of of the minor players in PCMO will wait until the special fuel is available. This info is available on the API website if you want to take a look.( PS-- The fuel is especially "dirty" in order to prove the VG sludge prevention characteristics.)FWIW--Oldtommy
