I wouldn't have a problem running Schaeffer oil to 9 or 10k in my car, but since I do about 12k worth of driving between April to October, I feel it's best for me to do two 6k oil changes during this time than to do one 12k oil change, this goes for no matter what oil I use.

This coming fall I will be changing my oil right around the middle of October, before the cold weather really starts to hit. But if we get a very cold winter again I'll do a middle of the winter oil change for sure, otherwise I'll run the October oil right through till spring (where it would have about 7k on it) with just a sampling in the middle with analysis to make sure it's still hanging in there.
