I used to see them in most gun stores and Just about all the salespeople said the gun was junk, yet they all got sold. I wanted to buy
one and keep the money in this country. They are based in Daytona Beach, Florida my old home town. Any info is wonderful. Thanks

The CPX-2 by SCCY is decent for the money but doesn't come close to other affordable made in USA options, you could always bump it up and get yourself a S&W Bodyguard 2.0 which is a great gun.

Can't go wrong with a Ruger LCP or LCP Max either.

They are disposable cheap guns for people who won't be shooting a lot. I used to work for a store that sold a lot of them, and we gave an instructor a few to let her students use. All of those, the two we kept for the store to test, and a lot of customers all started having issues around 6,000 rounds.

The Ruger MAX9 is better Made in America choice.

SCCY is gone, went bankrupt, avoid as there are no parts available. Cheap and unreliable, certainly not demanding any money on the used market. Ruger is a much better choice, they are very much in business and have excellent product support.
Just saw that -

I’ll second the Ruger recommendation for “Made in America”. I’ve got several Rugers, all well made and reliable.

Smith & Wesson is now (mostly) made in Tennessee. I’ve been pleased with my most recent S&W.

But none of them are made in Daytona Beach, which appears to have been an important consideration.

There are some deals on Gunbroker for used firearms if you spend some time browsing. I have seen good used pistols for $150-$200. Of course there are always the high dollar ones but there are deals out there. I think I have bought more in the last year than I have in the previous 14. FYI I am a home based FFL and have even bought new firearms off GB that are less than wholesale cost. You will have to pay a transfer fee to your local FFL, but it can be worth checking out to get the most out of your money.

Agreed. . .there are better options for not much more money, and American-made. As mentioned, S&W and Ruger are good choices. I know nothing about Kahr Arms, but they seem to have a devout following also. If in doubt about reliability and durability, ask a cop what they're carrying. . . every day. It may / may not be American made, but usually an evaluation process has been done before the guns were acquired.

A small step up is the Sig P365, also according to industry publications, the #1 selling micro 9. I have the P365x, now for about 4 years, it's been flawless with any ammunition I've tried.

If you're on a budget and looking for a reliable, inexpensive semi auto handgun, take a look at the Dagger lineup from Palmetto State Armory. They're basically a Glock knockoff. They sell a ton of them, and have fairly good reviews.

PSA also sells "race slides" along with a bunch of other addons and extra parts, so you can somewhat customize it to your liking. Extra magazines are affordable and inexpensive as well. Many can be had in the low to mid $300.00 range. Even cheaper when they run sales on them.

PSA also offers several package deals on them from time to time, that can include the gun, up to 10 extra magazines, nice zippered cases, along with a bunch of other stuff.
