Saw a Dodge Challenger last night - Wow!

I usually don't get worked up over new cars that much these days. I've seen a couple of new Dodge Challengers in dealer lots, both were red base coupes. They were nice, but not really noteworthy.

Went to Walmart last night. Was coming out of the store, and right at the door, waiting for someone, was a brand-new Challenger V-8 (I don't think it was an SRT-8, just an 'RT'?) It was ink black, with satin-fininsh wheels, and a sunroof. Plates weren't even on it yet, they were on the dash!

Wow, was it ever nice! It looked like it was right out of an ad - the store lights were shining off the paint, the headlights looked like meanacing 'eyes', and the Hemi was growling away under the hood scoops. It looked mean, sleek, and ready to tear apart anyone who wanted to mess with it! I haven't seen may new cars with that much 'attitude' in a while!

Best part, even my wife loved it, and said, "Oh, we HAVE to get one of those!" If I had the money, I would have found a dealer an ordered one right away. I hope Chrysler survives to make more of these!
 
I saw a new Camaro last night too, they also look pretty darn good with some attitude as well. It would be neat to see all the retro muscle cars together.
I have always wondered why there weren't more of the "good" muscle cars sold in the 60's and 70's but I guess the pricing difference was the same back then as it is now, hard to justify an SRT-8 vs the RT...
 
I haven't seen a new Camaro on the street yet. Looking forward to seeing that, too!
 
I prefer a car that will perform without the gaudy looks.

I am with you addyguy. The Challenger jumps of the page at you. Looking forward to sseeng the new camaro as well. iO know before this economic spiral GM had placed a lot of emphasis on the Camaro. We will see...
 
Addyguy if you care enough for Chrysler to survive buy the car!!!

Are you are saying it is not enough of a car to strap yourself with car payments knowing that most likley it will drop in value the moment you sign the purchase papers?

Trust me, I'd love to!

Unfortunately, 'any' extra debt right now is just not an option...
 
There's a black SRT up the street from us. Very nice! I'd prefer a more "in-your-face" color if I were to buy one: Hemi Orange. Where's the Sublime or Plum Crazy as seen on previous Chargers?
 
Give them time, they have B5 Blue coming out.

A coworker who retired a couple months ago bought an SRT8 hemi orange one yesterday.
He was showing a couple guys at work, he has no clue how to work the Nav and it has DVD and all the other gimmicks. He was like a kid on xmas showing his pals his new toy he got.

He was at the dealership with his sister who wanted and AWD Chareger RT and he saw the SRT8 Challanger. Salesman started it up and he told the sales guy, go write it up:) He has a 05 tundra but he said that will be his winter $hitbox, does not compare quality wise to the mopar:)and he really meant that. He said he would never buy a Domestic but admitted he was wrong. He hadnt been in a Dodge dealer in years and had no intention of looking at a new car never mind a Dodge but got dragged along with his sister who bought a Charger. He was glad he went to help his sister, bet the sales guy was too.
 
May be right but I would still take a SRT Challanger in a heart beat.

Guess we will find out next week if they get their 4 billion in extra loans.
 
I liken the Challenger to a Harley. It looks nice, has a good growl, but at the end of the day, there is a ton of competition that is just as nice looking and MUCH faster.

I drove a R/T Challenger at the local dealer and it felt no better than the Charger that it is based on. No thanks. I can get a better performing Cobra Mustang for roughly the same price as the SRT8 Challenger.
 
when they're driving behind you, the grill and headlights are just NOT esthetic. this car shows a LACK OF IMAGINATION. if u want prosperity, you can't just make stuff that looks like it came from the age of prosperity - basically this car is a joke. i much prefer my Subaru Impreza. I do also own a 2008 Dodge Dakota, but I notice with that truck, there is wind noise at highway speeds, that I don't get in my Impreza, or in the Ford Econoline/Club Wagon.
