Saturn rust question

Been too long, but IIRC mine started around 60k. It never got real bad, but IIRC when I traded out at 116k, it was 2k for the first quart, and 1k for the second, then I would do an oil change. In that region. I did however do almost nothing but 70mph highway driving, and only did conventional oil from the dealer, so maybe that was an issue.

It takes an awful lot of rust for the structure of the car to fail. Long, long before that point is reached most people junk the car for combination of both visual appearance and because replacing the mechanicals has gotten expensive.

I'm sure there are exceptions though.


Saturns are the exception because the average person never looks under the car. They see no rust on the plastic body and they figure they're OK, then one day the driver's seat falls through the floor.
