Sandwich adapters(for sbc) and a bypass filter

What sandwich adapters are available for the Chevy SB? Ralph said that he uses the Perma-Cool adapter. There is also a relief valve plug available from Perma-Cool.

Canton Racing Products has sandwich adapters made of billet aluminum. There are two adapters specifically for Chevy SBs (eliminates factory bypass adapter) and a universal adapter available. The difference between the two SB adapters is that either oil is filtered before leaving or it is filtered after it comes back.

Which one of the Chevy SB adapters would be best for use with a bypass filter?

I don't think that you can plumb your bypass filter to any sandwich if you use a bypass eliminator. That is, without a relief valve built into the sandwich, you'll have mandated flow through the TP filter ..which is zero compared to what you need.

Use a universal ..leave the bypass valve intact. If I've reasoned this correctly ..you will have some bypassed oil that is not filtered 24/7 while the engine is running. There is no way to route the full oil flow via the tp filter ..and there is no poppet relief in the sandwich. So the flow will go ...engine ...out to bypass filter ..to full flow filter ..back to engine.

I don't ..at least in my current state of mind (I'm tired), see a way around this.

The Permacool universal sandwich adapter must have a built in relief. Even with using that, if you eliminate the in block bypass, you should not use a full flow filter that doesn't have a bypass valve in it ..which most 13/16-16 filters do not have. If you do eliminate the in block bypass, you should use a racing filter that is designed to take more stress then normal media. It will filter like a piece of junk ..but the bypass filter should make it a useless apendage ...so to speak.

Again, I may not be thinking clearly.

I got started using sandwich adapters over 20 years ago. I have used mostly Perma-Cool adapters. I have used a few Flex-o-lites. I put one on a 6.0 gas engine on a new Chevy pickup. It was a hassle because the full flow filter was too close to the front universal joint. I couldn't even see the oil pressure switch. Sandwich adapters are a lifesaver on some engines.
